A new president has taken up the reins at Sidmouth Rotary Club.
Outgoing president Stephen Gunnell has now been succeeded by John Kinch – a Rotarian of five years.
The 74-year-old, who moved to Sidmouth from Berkshire in 2009, paid tribute to his predecessor.
John said: “Stephen was an excellent president who led the club in an extremely friendly and positive way.”
He said that he joined the club because of the welcoming and friendly atmosphere that encouraged him to participate in their activities.
When asked why the club was so important to him, John said: “Camaraderie and good friendships, and because we help the community.”
During his time as president John said he wanted to continue enhancing the ‘fellowship and friendliness’ of the club and its ‘reach into the community’.
John is a former director and company secretary of Safeways, the superstore, and also worked in banking and property management for 20 years.
