The presence of a minor injuries unit in Sidmouth’s Beacon Medical Centre will be advertised to passers-by with new signs being erected, writes Stephen Sumner.

NHS bosses closed the unit in Sidmouth Victoria Hospital last November and it looked set to be lost before Sid Valley GPs agreed to take it on for 12 months.

It opened on June 1, but county councillor Stuart Hughes said many residents and visitors were unaware of the move, so he used £900 from his Investing in Devon budget for eight signs.

They will be in place in the next three to four weeks.
