SPORTS clubs from around Ottery celebrated with town councillors at the newly finished community pavilion this week.

The project on council-owned land at Strawberry Lane has cost around £65,000 and took five months to complete, but mayor Glyn Dobson said he was pleased to report that sports should be taking place on the field next year.

“The pavilion is finished, but we still need help with the field, so if anyone wants to help they are more than welcome to grab a rake and join in,” he added. “We’re still looking for people who want to use the field – we think croquet would work well and we’re looking at tennis and petanque, too.”

The new building includes changing rooms and toilets and any clubs interested in utilising the new facility are asked to contact the town council office on (01404) 812252 for more information.
