Dancing Duo open dancing sessions at Sidmouth’s new community centre

A COUPLE who offer social dance evenings around the county are launching a Sidmouth evening at the new community centre in Stowford Rise.

Henry and Jeannie Clark, the Dancing Duo from Torquay, will run a three-hour session once a month for those who enjoy ballroom, Latin and sequence dancing.

Keen to emphasise the dances are not classes but social events for “seasoned” dancers, Jeannie said the first dance night, on Saturday, September 24 from 8pm to 11pm, would have an Indian Summer theme.

“This is a new venture in Sidmouth,” said Jeannie, who used to run a hotel in Totnes. “A lot of people came to us at Exeter Corn Exchange but it is now so busy it has no spare Saturdays until next year.”

She expects between 50 and 80 dancers will join the sessions “for pure enjoyment”. Tea and coffee and biscuits will be provided but participants can bring their own drinks.

Evenings are £5 and the couple also run sessions in St Thomas’s new community hall, Exeter, Plymouth and Torquay.

In the last five years the couple have raised £10,500 for Heartswell SW, the region’s cardiac care charity.
