WITNESSES are being sought after an attempted arson attack in Newton Poppleford last week.
The Pavilion was broken into between 8pm on Friday, January 30 and 9am on Saturday, January 31 and furniture was set alight.
A police spokesman said: "Various items were moved around and piled into the middle of the room and were then set on fire."
Substantial smoke damage was caused to the furniture, the carpet and the inside of the building but the fire did not spread.

A member of the public discovered the break-in on Saturday morning.
Police are urging anyone with information to contact them on 08452 777444 quoting crime reference number KS/09/65.
