WORKING TOGETHER: Voluntary organisations and community groups turned out in force for a half-day seminar run by the district council entitled: ‘Working Together for the Future of East Devon’.
A total of 120 delegates packed into the council chamber at Knowle last Frday to improve communications between the voluntary and statutory sectors.
East Devon MP Hugo Swire addressed the representatives about welfare reform, the financial challenges facing the country and the need to make it worthwhile for people to work.
Councillor Jill Elson, the cabinet member for communities, said: “This was a really inspiring exchange of ideas among people who have a positive attitude towards taking East Devon forward and making it a better place to live for all of us.”
