ALTHOUGH it has no objections to a pergola being kept at the Blue Ball Inn, Sidford, town councillors do not want it to be re-sited.Instead Sidmouth Town Council, backing plans submitted by Mr M Chapman on behalf of owners Punch Taverns, want the pergola kept where it is but removed from its plinth to reduce its height and lessen its visibility. The town council's planning committee backed the application, commenting to East Devon District Council: "We cannot understand why the pergola needs re-siting and would not wish it to be moved closer than three metres to the neighbouring property, as the noise which emanates may create a loss of amenity."EDDC's development control committee will determine the application.
