ALL-DAY celebrations will take place at the Norman Lockyer Observatory tomorrow to mark the 140th anniversary of the discovery of helium.

People will learn all about the sun and solar power during the 'Sunny Day', which will feature hands-on demonstrations, a safe view of solar prominences, planetarium shows and telescope tours.

There will also be solar cookers, solar photovoltaics trade stands, solographs, a helium balloon race and refreshments.

The event will take place from 9am-6pm. Entry costs �5 for adults and �2.50 for children.
