A winter walk turned up a tasty find in the form of a crisps packet from more than 40 years ago.
Judith Taylor discovered the item buried in mud in a hedge in Venn Ottery and believes the Smith’s packaging could date back to the 1970s.
The ready salted crisps cost three pence and featured a ‘Football For All’ competition which gave buyers the a chance to win a jet trip to an international game, as well as a free poster.
Judith says she often picks up rubbish on her walk and, after noticing the logo, washed the packet in a nearby stream and took to social media to find out what era it may be from.
Author Jo Earlam shared a picture of the packet and reminded people about the importance of plastic waste on her Tuamor the Turtle Facebook page.
Jo said: “Hopefully, whoever threw this away is now a grown-up-tall-person with their own litter bin, and sense of responsibility, instead of using our planet as a dustbin.”
