From the medals podium to Sidmouth’s Market Place – Olympian Jo Pavey is set to switch on the town’s Christmas lights next Saturday (November 19).
The ‘supermum’-of-two from Feniton, now 43, ran at a record-breaking fifth Olympic Games in Rio over the summer and tells the story in her new book, This Mum Runs.
She will be signing copies in Winstone’s Books from 4.30pm, when local band Beautiful Blue Mac will be kicking off the festivities in Market Place.
Jo, who started running at The King’s School, Ottery St Mary, will turn on the Christmas lights at 5.30pm and then draw the ‘golden ticket’ – a £100 voucher generously donated by Gliddons Toys.
Retired businessman Richard Eley has distributed thousands of tickets to Sid Valley schools, but children must be at the event in person to be able to put their ticket stub into a hat for the draw.
