A GENEROUS £200 donation from the Otter Vale Art Society put smiles on the faces of Ottery day centre clients this week.

The centre, based in the Rowan Ward in Ottery St Mary Community Hospital, provides 12 elderly local people with lunch, the chance to socialise and take part in craft activities, games and quizzes.

The cash came from the proceeds of the art society's community raffle held in partnership with the East Devon Rotary Club at the group's annual exhibition, which drew in record numbers last year.

Day centre manager Sue Culley said: "The money helps us a lot, we are so well supported by the community.
