OTTERTON Mill's summer floral displays have been given a facelift thanks to Bicton College's horticulture studentsThe group volunteered to spend an afternoon at the mill refreshing all the planters ahead of the summer season. The event marks the start of a new partnership between Bicton College and Otterton Mill.Mill co-owner Caroline Spiller said: "We were delighted to provide Bicton students with some work experience. "We bought the plants from the college's plant centre, because most were propagated and grown by the students. "Staff and students then offered to install them for us and they provided a very professional service."The students created the planting scheme, with help from their tutors, and we've received lots of positive comments from our customers on the plants and designs."Otterton Mill has more than 30 planters and had very specific requirements for a sympathetic planting scheme to compliment the mill's character.Co-owner Simon Spiller added: "The college's farm will also be supplying the mill's restaurant with lamb, mutton, beef and pork. This will take our local sourcing philosophy to new heights since our diners at the mill will be able to enjoy meats reared within sight of the mill!
