TORRENTIAL rain made way for glorious sunshine on Sunday as more than 300 people turned out for Otterton's Open Gardens day, which raised �1,766 for local charities.
The cash will be split between Budleigh Salterton and District Hospiscare and Otterton church after 337 visitors enjoyed the horticultural delights on show in 11 gardens in the village.
Organiser Jill Beacham said: "W were so lucky after the weather on Saturday, I was looking out my window and feared it would be a wash out, but then it was a glorious day. We were absolutely delighted.
