OTTERY'S allotments will get a mini-makeover after the town council agreed to splash £150 on new plot number signs for the Higher Ridgeway site.

With the current waiting list for plots currently at 22, councillors said on Monday it would be "nice" to have allotment facilities at the west end of the town.

However, a suggestion that council-owned land off Strawberry Lane, near the town's bowling club, could be used was dismissed as planning rules would currently prohibit it.
