THE King's School's new Performing Arts Department staged its first production this week, and Annie has proved a massive hit.
A three-night run of the popular musical about a red-headed orphan, performed by a raft of talented pupils aged from 12 to 18 years of age, began on Wednesday and finishes at the school tonight.
A "phenomenal" response from students has seen production be anything but 'a hard knock life' for Sarah Griffiths, the school's first ever head of performing arts.
More than 180 youngsters applied to take part in the musical, with 90 of those vying for main roles.
"I have been bowled over," said Sarah, "I've been really impressed with the professionalism of the students and the quality of their performances."
The final performance of Annie take place at The King's School tonight at 7.30pm. Anyone interested in attending can contact the school on (01404) 812982 and ask for box-office.
