A FRIENDLY rivalry between Ottery's Town Council and Bowling Club continued on Monday as they turned their hand to a spot of archery at The King's School.
After a quick demonstration from Ottery's Grandisson Archers, both teams took part in a medieval clout shoot, aiming at a wooden steak on school playing fields.
The Bowling Club ran out narrow winners by a mere five points. Grandisson Archers Chairman John Brice presented them with a plaque marking the victory and hopes it will be up for grabs next year.
Mr Brice said: "After a little instruction they all managed it and it was very close. I hope they wii want to have another go. There was some good banter and it was all in good fun, I'm sure the challenge will be laid down for next year.
