A SWARM of bees created quite a buzz in Ottery on Saturday.
Hundreds of the insects picked a prime position to enjoy the town's Pixie Day celebrations in the parish church graveyard- setting up home just yards away from where hordes of screaming children were due to congregate.
Luckily there was no sting in the tale as the bees stayed on their best behaviour after quick-thinking church groundsman Chris Thomas got on the phone to local bee enthusiast Richard Grainger. A posse of residents then helped cordon off the swarm.
Richard, who keeps bees as a hobby, said: "It's not unusual. We had two lots up here last year. Normally they swarm where they can be seen as they want to be re-hived.
