SERVICEMEN and women injured in Iraq and Afghanistan will be boosted by a charity ball organised by an Ottery woman inspired by her soldier step-son's military exploits.

Eva White, of Chineway Gardens, hopes the event in The Institute on Saturday will raise cash and awareness of the Help For Heroes charity.

Eva's stepson, Darren, has recently returned from a stint serving in Afghanistan.

Highlights of the evening, which begins at 7.30pm, will include live music, a bar, buffet and silent auction.

Tickets (20) are available by contacting Eva on (01404) 813888 or the Ottery Tourist Information Centre on (01404) 813964.
