AN OPEN-air service and hog-roast drew crowds to the Land of Canaan on Sunday as Ottery marked the 1,100th anniversary of the Diocese of Exeter.
The special event, organised by the Otter Vale Ministry Team, saw Bishop Bob Evens of Crediton visit the town.
Bishop Bob had the honour of being 'kidnapped' by local youngsters as part of Saturday's Pixie Day celebrations and said:
"Ottery is a lovely place and one of those communities where people would rapidly get enveloped and drawn in. The church here is in good heart."
Festivities followed a special service in the parish church. Bishop Bob has spent the last nine weeks visiting communities throughout the region as part of the celebrations.
