OTTERY’S Yonder Close Social Club dished up a £900 boost for leukaemia sufferers with a series of meals.
The eight-week effort in aid of the Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) saw club driving forces often cooking into the early hours of the morning.
Helpers served up breakfast, lunch, cream teas and supper and netted £932 for their efforts.
“The club has yet again done itself proud, so much by so few,” said club chairman Richard Cunningham Wood.
Carole Littlejohns, scheme manager turned Yonder Close chef extraordinaire, regularly baked and cooked until late at night with help from Val Pinn, Pam Dodd and Norman Chambers.
Proceeds from the meals went to ELF, with the club providing most of the ingredients.
Last Thursday, Carole presented a cheque to ELF chief executive Dale Edwards, who gave a talk on the charity.
