TEN Ottery homes will be left without power until tonight after a van careered off a busy road and into an electricity pole this morning.
Police said the box vehicle had swerved on the B3174 Exeter Road to avoid an oncoming vehicle, and the force of the crash snapped an electricity pole.
Officers set up a one-way traffic light system and Western Power technicians are currently now working to fix the problem.
A Western Power spokesperson said several of its customers were affected by the pylon collapse, some were re-connected to an alternative supply.
However, 10 homes will have to wait until power lines are re-hung before their power is restored.
