Bovis Homes has boosted Ottery’s first cycling event by donating £1,000 for prizes.
The town will host its first King and Queen of the Mountain race up Chineway Hill on October 15.
The time trial will be followed by an activities afternoon in the Land of Canaan.
Josefina Gori, who is co-ordinating the event, said the money will go towards prizes and the cost of closing the road for the race.
She added; “It’s fantastic they have supported this event. With so many young families coming here to live here its important to have events that get young people involved.”
Kate Brown, marketing manager for Bovis in the South West, said: “It is just so important for younger generations to have things to do and activities that interest them. We are keen to get involved in the community and help where we can.
“Josefina and her committee work so hard and put so much in and are so dedicated its quite infectious and we are really pleased to help.”
