A PLAY tackling the problem of unwanted callers and bogus salesmen is coming to Ottery next month.

A PLAY tackling the problem of unwanted callers and bogus salesmen is coming to Ottery next month.

Trickster, a production by Solomon Touring Theatre, will take place in The Institute at 2.15pm on March 13.

The production is aimed at older residents but all members of the public are welcome.

Based on a true story, a cast of three professional actors present the musical and live story-telling event.

A spokesman for the partnership said: "Stories of elderly householders being conned out of their savings by bogus salespeople knocking on their front doors, or as victims of distraction burglaries, are unfortunately all too true in many cases."

The East and Mid Devon Community safety partnership has helped organise the event as part of its war on distraction burglaries and scams by offering two free sessions to tackle the issues.

The police, South West water and Devon Trading Standards will also be on hand to give information and advice.

East Devon District Council, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, Devon care and repair, Home safeguard, the Lions Club and Ottery St Mary's Later Life Forum are also taking part.

Entry is free and refreshments will be served.
