Ottery Food Festival goes down a treat with crowds

The best of the regions food, drink and chefs were on display at the weekend for Ottery’s sixth Food and Families Festival.
There was something for all the family, with food tasters, live music and face painting and activities for children.
In the main marquee, talented cooks from across East Devon serving up tasty dishes for the crowd to try.
Among those demonstrating were students from The King’s School, past and present, as well as South African chef Bruce Cole and Ottery businessman Christopher Piper.
Honiton business Bloomberry Juice Company received the Nick Agg-Manning trophy for the best market stall.

Judges secretly inspected all the stalls marking them on their appearance, products and how they were packaged, price and child friendliness.
Ottery Carnival organised the evening entertainment which had a Caribbean theme.

Ruud Jansen Venneboer, from the festival committee, said: “Every year we increase the amount of people. It is as successful or even a little bit more successful than previous events. We were pleased with the weather.”
