OTTERY parish church hopes to give poverty the boot with a day of family fun on Sunday (October 4).
A special harvest time service at 10.30am will be followed by a free lunch at Ottery Cricket Club at 12noon, where the 2009 'Welly Olympics' will be held.
A host of welly-related competitions and fun will take place in the hope cash will be donated to boost aid charity Farm Africa, and a harvest gift can be handed over to St Petrocks, which helps the homeless.
