Ottery groups and charities boosted by town council grants

Organisations across the Ottery parish have received a share of £8,700 of community cash.
The town council has split the sum between 17 groups and charities in the area.
The biggest beneficiaries was Ottery St Mary Carnival, which received £2,750 from the council.
The Men’s Shed and Tipton St John Playing Fields Association was boosted by £1,000.
Paul Bartlett, chairman of the town council’s finance committee, said, due to the healthy state of the authority’s finances, he was pleased to award the grants.
Speaking at the annual parish meeting, he said: “We only have a limited amount of money to allocate and there will be some disappointment by the outcome but please don’t give up, keep trying.”
East Devon Citizens Advice Bureau and Ottery in Bloom each received £500.
The council also awarded grants to:

Thomas Axe Charity - £200;
Ottery St Mary Heritage Society - £250;
Vision OM, Ottery Station - £200;
Twinning Association - £250;
Ottery Community Theatre - £350;
Pixie Day - £300;
Food and Families Festival - £250;
Tipton Residents Association - £350.
