OTTERY could be a plastic bag free zone next Saturday after green-minded residents toiled away making environmentally friendly alternatives.
OTTERY could be a plastic bag free zone next Saturday after green-minded residents toiled away making environmentally friendly alternatives.
Sustainable Ottery (SO) members will hand out long-life bags on September 12 to mark the international 'Plastic Bag Free Day'.
"These will be strong, good quality bags made from material that SO supporters no longer wanted and have donated to make into new bags by members. There will also be plenty of examples of alternatives bags on display that can usually be bought in shops in Ottery," said organiser Jill Dixon.
"Let's have a plastic bag amnesty - swap your plastic bag for a long-lasting bag that you can keep in your pocket or handbag so you'll never need another plastic one again.
