Volunteers are hoping to secure two older dogs a new loving home after the death of their owners.
Sherman, 11, and Darcey, nine, were brought to ARC Animal Rescue Centre, in Chineway Road, Ottery, where they have been cared for. Sherman, a Jack Russell terrier, has been with the charity since May when he was brought in with his mother in May.
His mum was put down after having advanced cancer.
Crystal Scott, manager of ARC, said: “It is not usually a problem to rehome older dogs but these two have been stuck for a bit.
“Sherman is quite a lively 11-year-old. He’s not good with other dogs or cats and he would be happy with someone with a large garden. He would make such a nice companion for someone.”
The charity is also looking to find a new owner for Darcey the Doberman who arrived at the centre following the death of her owner in August.
She was brought to volunteers by the police on August 25 and was described as a ‘absolutely lovely’ and a ‘gentle giant’.
Crystal added: “She is a bit of a gentle giant. We call her Darcey Muscle, she is lively and we have taken her for walks and she seems fine around other dogs, she is not too keen on cats. She is very vibrant.”
To make an appointment to visit Darcey or Sherman, or any of the dogs needing rehoming, call or email the centre on 01404 815487 or email: arcrescue@gmail.com.
