Sally Yeo, East Devon scout district commissioner, presented a number of chief scout, Duke of Edinburgh and long service awards in front of more than 100 guests. Verity Nickels, Jeff Abbott, Chris Owen and Vanessa Maunder were thanked for five years of service and a gift was presented to Nick Jobling, the outgoing treasurer, to thank him for 10 years of volunteering.

The group also announced that it would be naming its main hall in memory of Jeff Bellworthy, a long serving scout leader for more than 30 years, who died last October after a long battle with cancer. His family were in attendance as a plaque was unveiled above the entrance in his honour.

The group has already lined up a busy 2018 season including camping in Luxembourg.
