A group of intrepid Scouts from Ottery St Mary recently completed a weekend on Dartmoor.
Their home for the weekend was the Bellever Youth Hostel, and from here the group undertook a number of navigation exercises.
One Leader, 18 year-old Chris Davies, was spending his first weekend away with the Scouts since taking charge. He said: “It was great to spend time with the group on Dartmoor, seeing them put into action the skills they had learnt over many a night at Scouts. They were brimming with self confidence at the end of the weekend.”
John Green, the Group Scout Leader was pleased to report no one got lost, adding: “This weekend away is what scouting is all about. It offers young people a chance to learn new skills and develop a sense of self confidence. It is just part of a wide range of activities we can offer young people”
