SEPTEMBER crime in Ottery dropped in comparison to last year, but calls to police went up.

Eleven crimes were recorded in the town last month in comparison to 19 in the same period last year.
Calls from residents to police rose however, from 68 to 82.
Neighbourhood beat manager PC Phil Thomas said reported crimes included three assaults.
An incident of aleeged actual bodily harm in Ferguson Close is currently being investigated by police,
Another investigation into claims of a serious assault outside The Institute has been scrapped after the victim would not support the police prosecution.

As violent crime rose slightly, burglaries and vehicle crime plummeted with no reported incidents.
