SANBURY S will give Ottery residents the chance to have a say on its proposals for a town-centre store this week.

SANBURY'S will give Ottery residents the chance to have a say on its proposals for a town-centre store this week.

An exhibition will take place at 6 Mill Street, next to Otter Gems, between 10am and 6pm next Friday, January 16 and from 10am to 2pm the following day.

The supermarket giant wants feedback from residents over its plans to build a 20,000 sq ft store in Hind Street.

A spokesperson for the company said: "Early feedback tells us that Hind Street is recognised as a good location for a new food store because of its town centre location. The inclusion of free parking, limited to two hours, will encourage a flow of shoppers to the store and Ottery's town centre shops, providing a boost to the local economy. In addition, our proposal includes the creation of a lay-by for a bus stop on Hind Street.

"We value the views of the community and would encourage as many people as possible to attend the exhibition."

Both Sainsbury's and rival Tesco hope to submit planning applications in the next few weeks.
