PLANNING chiefs hope talks can solve Ottery s sewerage problem and lead to the re-generation of its derelict factory site.

PLANNING chiefs hope talks can solve Ottery's sewerage problem and lead to the re-generation of its' derelict factory site.

The Herald last week revealed how the town is in development limbo because its' sewerage system is full to capacity. South West Water (SWW) said it will not fork out to improve infrastructure.

Sewerage was a factor in the refusal of plans to re-generate the factory and town mill site with nearly 100 new homes.

A spokesman for local planning authority East Devon District Council (EDDC) said discussions on the town mill site with SWW will take place in the coming months. He said: "The council will use its best endeavours to break any log jams on this issue and is keen to promote a development scheme on the town mill site that secures the future of the listed buildings, as well as realising the potential benefits of an overall comprehensive redevelopment scheme.
