Concerns that not enough is being done to help resettle families in East Devon
Ottery Refugee Response Group is taking action to help find housing for refugees amid concerns the issue is not being pushed as a priority.
East Devon District Council (EDDC) pledged earlier this year to take in five to 10 families under the Government’s Syrian Vulnerable Persons Resettlement scheme and put out a call for landlords to come forward.
Group members this week raised concerns that not enough is being done to help people seeking refuge in the county and pledged to contact estate agents themselves. Ottery Parish Church is overseeing a community project called Abide to sponsor resettlement of a Syrian refugee. Visit: www.totalgiving.co.uk/appeal/otterypcc-abide.
