Fiver Fest is coming to Ottery St Mary later this month.

Every year Totally Locally run a campaign to promote local independent shops and businesses by asking them to promote £5 offers from their businesses.

This year Ottery traders have been given the go-ahead to run the festival a week behind the rest of the county, so it can lead neatly into the big Town Clean Up event on July 3.

From Saturday, June 26 until Saturday, June 3, over 20 local businesses will be offering great products or services for only a fiver.

Organisers say: "The independent shops and businesses are what makes our town special and unique.

"The community support for local businesses has been amazing during lockdown, so these offers are to say thank you to customers, and to highlight the great value and economic impact of shopping locally."

Fiver Fest is a free to join campaign, devised and run by Totally Locally, a grass roots high street organisation that has been helping businesses and High Streets to help themselves since 2010 with incredible results.

Organisers say that if every adult in Ottery St Mary spent just £5 per week in their local independent shops and businesses, it would mean £1.8million per year going directly into our local economy. Which can lead to more jobs, a better high street, a stronger economy & a nicer place to live.

Some of the local businesses who have signed up include those who stayed open during the lockdown and became a lifeline to many – like Roberts and Abbotts. We have some of our brilliant local favourites – Otter Furniture, The Curious Otter, Kirsten’s Curiosities. We also have a range of tasty treats available from The Silver Otter, The Coffee Bank, Samosa Lady and the Lamb & Flag. There are also interesting offers from small local businesses Rivers of Ink, Ministry of Mushrooms, AS Fit, Pit-Tastic and Mooselet and Co. Even the library is joining in!

Saturday, July 3 is Ottery St Mary's Town Clean-up Day.
Organisers are asking everyone to come forward and help them to make Ottery spick and span for the summer. Between 11am and 1pm volunteers will be trying to cover as much of the town as possible with buckets, sponges and litter pickers. They want to clean road signs, spruce up flowerpots, remove any litter and leave the town sparkling.
