Ottery St Mary Town Council has been awarded an award due to its commitment to improving the area.
The Quality Award is part of the Local Council Award Scheme which rewards councils that have shown good practice in regards to governance, community engagement and council improvement.
The scheme has been designed to celebrate the very best of local councils and Ottery St Mary is one of them.
Its commitment to making a real difference to the lives of the people that in the area is what made them worthy award winners.
The council is also seeking a Green Flag award in respect of its cemetery.
The accolade is awarded by Keep Britain Tidy and recognises well-managed parks and green spaces.
A ‘mock’ judging has already taken place and the council has been given pointers as to what we need to do to get the cemetery compliant with the judging criteria.
