OTTERY’S busy Tourist Information Centre (TIC) stayed open for business despite a burst pipe flooding the premises over Christmas.
As much as three to five inches of water could have leaked into the popular Broad Street premises last Tuesday evening. Hard working staff didn’t let the water dampen their spirits and stayed open for customers.
The TIC service is run by Ottery town council, which rents the premises. Mayor Glyn Dobson said he had been told as much as three to five inches of water could have flooded the centre. “We’re still operating in there,” he said. “It caused a few problems, but we didn’t have any damage to our equipment.”
