Ottery town bandsman wins £1,000 in raffle

A lucky cornet player from Ottery St Mary has bagged himself £1,000 in the South East Devon Charity Raffle organised by local Rotarians.

Jack Clarke, of Ottery Silver Band, landed first prize after purchasing the winning ticket.

Rotary clubs including Otter Valley, Sidmouth and Axminster, print raffle tickets for local groups and charities to sell between May and October before its grand draw in November.

To date, the fundraiser has raised more than £220,000.

Other winning tickets were sold by Axminster Heritage, Exonian Magical Society, Exmouth Musical Theatre and Open DAW in Dawlish, Winners received cheques ranging from £500 to £50.
