LOST PROPERTY: A small child’s coat and a ladies handbag were handed in to police after the jubilee weekend celebrations. Anybody who wants to claim the items should get in contact with PC Phil Thomas at Ottery Police Station by calling the police non-emergency number 101.

SPECIAL MEETINGS: Ottery St Mary Town Council is holding ‘SHLAA Consultations’ in each of its wards as it asks residents in the parish for suggested sites for development, as well as sites considered inappropriate for development, for a submission to the district council. The meeting in Tipton was on Thursday, and the one in West Hill Village Hall takes place on Monday, from 6pm to 8.30pm. The final meeting is in Alfington Village Hall on Wednesday, June 20, again from 6pm to 8.30pm.

OLYMPICS: After the success of the jubilee celebrations, villagers in Tipton are organising an Olympic-themed summer fair on the playing field on Saturday, July 14.

It will include the annual Otter Rail and River 10km run and 1.5-mile fun run, a garden, produce, art and craft show, car boot sale,

It will also feature Tipton’s own version of the Olympic games, plus stalls and sideshows.

Organisers say it will be rounded off with a hog roast and night of music and dance in a marquee, with ceilidh band Piping Hot Music performing.

AGM: Representatives from Ottery Town Council have agreed to be on the panel for a question and answer session at the West Hill Residents Association’s annual meeting.

There will also be members of the association on the panel, which will be discussing development in the village.

The meeting starts at 7pm in the village hall on Friday, June 22.

PLANNING: Ottery Town Council chose not to support plans to make alterations to an existing property in Toadpit Lane, West Hill, and to build a new detached dwelling on its land.

Councillors said at Monday’s meeting the application was ‘not of an exceptional design, and not in keeping with the area’. The final decision will be made by East Devon District Council.
