Ottery vandal blight wrecks flowers

COMMUNITY work was trashed when vandals targeted town floral displays for the third time in three years.
Culprits struck on Ottery’s St Saviour’s Bridge between Monday and Tuesday and ruined months of hard work by volunteers by wrecking planters.
It’s the second year running flowers at the spot have been damaged on a Monday night.
“It’s a blasted mess,” said Ottery in Bloom secretary Keith Spittlehouse. “It’s disappointing because the bridge has been looking very good.”
Otter Nurseries provided and planted displays which were then looked after by various community organisations including Ottery in Bloom and Rotary club members.
“Sadly these things happen and I don’t know how we deal with it. There are a lot of places in the country at the moment worse off than we are,” added Mr Spittlehouse.
