Oxfam volunteer steps down after 30 years service
Staff and volunteers at Oxfam in Sidmouth gathered to say farewell to someone who had given more than 30 years’ service to the charity.
Joan Curnock was awarded a framed long-service certificate, gold badge and bouquet of flowers at the shop in Temple Street last week.
Manager Andrew Pinney said: “It was a small token of thanks for all her help, especially through all the many changes that she has seen over the years.”
He said he was very sorry to see Joan leave after all her years of ‘wonderful service’.
“Joan had volunteered at the shop for over thirty years and will be sadly missed by fellow volunteers and customers alike,” Mr Pinney added.
He said if anyone is interested in taking on Joan’s mantle and becoming a volunteer for Oxfam, they can contact him on 01395 578927 or drop into the shop for a cup of tea and an informal chat.
