CIVIC leaders failed to back plans to give a listed building in Station Road, Sidmouth, a parking revamp.
Owners of Milestones have applied for planning permission to incorporate a car turn table area. Sidmouth Town Council Planning Committee members felt they were unable to support proposals when they met on September 21.
The committee ruled access would “create definite problems” with traffic approaching the ‘pinch point’ in Station Road and that any vehicle parked on the forecourt would “adversely affect” the setting of Milestones and be “detrimental to the street scene”. The final decision rests with East Devon District Council.
