RUNNERS at Sidmouth College have been given a boost by a former European and Commonwealth coach.Paul Rozier, who has recently moved to Sidford, was a top endurance running coach in the 1970s, training European and Commonwealth runners, as well as national and English schools champions. Mr Rozier's son decided to start an after-school running club after his own son, Will, a pupil at the school, showed potential.Members of the club recently competed in the Ivybridge Cross Country Relays where they exceeded expectations. Imogin Dinham-Price, Tabitha Vaughan and Felicia Cooper, of the junior girls' team, came in second and the boys' team of William Rozier, Aaron Palmer and Blake Blackwood took fourth place.School teacher Bob Privett, who is standing down as Devon schools cross country team manager after six years, joined the teams at the competition. He said: "It was good for these athletes, who have been training hard, to be given an opportunity to participate in a competitive event and I was astounded by their achievements."Paul is a top endurance coach and we are very lucky to have him coaching our young athletes. It may be that some of them will go on to replicate the achievements of Paul's former athletes.
