‘Shocking’ plans have not been supported by Sidmouth Town Council’s Planning Committee after members of the public came out in force.

The plans were labelled ‘detrimental’ to the local area which would have seen the construction of a two storey dwelling and the creation of a new parking space in Peaslands Road.

The decision to not support was deemed a ‘no brainer’ by both Cllr Shelia Kerridge and Cllr John Rayson said it was a ‘non-starter’ due to the risk of increased congestion.

There were also issues over misrepresentation in the application highlighted by a member of the public who said it was ‘a complete fabrication of what will be built’.

Cllr. Ian McKenzie-Edwards commented that the application ‘breaks a few records in that respect.’

The application was not given its support on October 31 but the final decision now rests with East Devon District Council.
