PEPPER spray was used on a man who allegedly assaulted a bar worker and a PCSO on New Years Eve in Beer.

Police officers were called to Beer Social Club after an 18-year-old local man allegedly assaulted a bar worker.

The victim's glasses were broken and he received minor facial injuries as a result. When officers tried to arrest the man he then allegedly punched a PCSO and pepper spray had to be used to impede him. The PCSO also received minor injuries.

PC Speariett said: "During the arrest pepper spray was deployed in order for us to detain the man. He was then arrested for two counts of assault.
