Pest control contract up for grabs in East Devon

Applicant sought in Sidmouth and Ottery

A PEST control contract for East Devon has been put out to tender.

The district council wants to hear from businesses in Sidmouth and Ottery interested in providing the service to residents.

The authority is asked to deal with around 1,000 requests for treatment each year - paid for by householders at the point of delivery.

“By far, the most frequent reported pest is rats,” said a council spokesman.

“To help keep the cost of treatment down, this is subsidised by EDDC so residents currently only have to pay £35 plus VAT for a course of treatment.”

The closing date by which pre-qualification questionnaires for the contract have to be submitted by applicants by Friday, September 30.

“We hope to be able to offer a new three-year contract to begin in December this year,” added the spokesman.
