Man taken to hospital after car ends up on roof.
AN accident in which a car ended up on it roof near Sidford last night (Thursday) ended with a search for a missing pet and a man being taken to hospital.
Emergency services raced to Trow Hill at around 11pm.
A stretch of the road from the Donkey Sanctuary to the Blue Ball was shut for an hour as a result of the incident.
Police said paramedics helped free a man from an overturned white Ford Fiesta - but there was concern for a dog that had run away following the single vehicle incident.
The animal was later found and a man was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
He was conscious and had been walking around, said a force spokesman.
The car involved was registered to a Sidmouth resident according to police.
A pair of fire appliances from Sidmouth attended the scene but all people were clear and free of the vehicle upon their arrival.
The road was reopened at around midnight.
