Top jazzman Pete Allen plays an afternoon gig in the Cellar Bar of Kennaway House

A jazz supremo who has been given honorary citizenship of New Orleans is playing at Kennaway House on Sunday (July 22).

Pete Allen, on clarinet, saxophone and vocals, leads a band known as the Jazz Hot Four, Five, Six or Seven, depending on how many of the musicians are available at any one time.

Sunday afternoon will see the whole Hot Seven together, playing what they describe as “an exciting and entertaining musical selection of happy traditional jazz - a sound that everyone can enjoy and understand.”

The band are regulars at jazz festivals and clubs throughout the UK and abroad, and Pete Allen has topped the bill in St Louis, Sacramento and New Orleans, where he was awarded the honorary citizenship for his services to jazz music.

The show will be held in the Cellar Bar at Kennaway House.

Doors open at 2pm and the performance starts at 3pm. Tickets are £15.
