THE annual summer picnic held for Fortescue residents and their friends turned out to be a most successful event.
The picnic took place on Sunday, June 28, and with excellent picnic dishes and the lively band, Fortescue residents enjoyed a pleasant party at Fortescue Farm, by kind permission of Andrew and Janette Prettijohn.
A bouncy castle was organised for youngsters from the hamet.
Councillor Peter Sullivan, chairman of Sidmouth Town Council and his wife Janet, together with Councillor and Mrs Tony Reed, joined the gathering, organised by a hard working team from Fortescue.
