Hundreds of women pounded the pavements of Exmouth on Saturday for Hospiscare’s Twilight Walk.

Around 800 women signed up for the annual event, which set off from The Maer after an evening of warm-up and entertainment.

This year’s ’80s theme prompted many walkers to celebrate the decade and dress in day-glo and ra-ra skirts.

Sharon Ewart , Hospiscare events fundraiser, said: “What a very special evening. It was an absolute joy to see so many women unite in great spirits and proudly raise money for their local hospice.

“The sponsorship raised from this event will allow us to continue to provide outstanding care to local people.”

On the night, walkers enjoyed entertainment and a ‘lively atmosphere’ at the event village on The Maer, where a dance squad surprised everyone with a well-rehearsed flash-mob performance.

The charity said The Maer was transformed with lights and decorations, creating a festival feel - plus entertainment for walkers en-route.

The women returned after the walk to a party vibe, a ‘well-earned’ bacon sandwich and hot drink.
